Pasco man drowns in ocean at Lincoln City beach

August 1, 2013

— A Pasco man drowned in the ocean off a Lincoln City-area beach Wednesday night.

Kerry Eugene Bamford, 56, of Pasco, was found about 200 yards from shore, according to the Oregon State Police.

Bamford was body surfing with a friend when he was spotted by his friend about a hundred yards from shore trying to swim back to the beach. His friend lost sight of him and notified onlookers on the beach who called 9-1-1, police said.

Emergency responders were dispatched at 8:40 p.m and upon arrival went out on two jet skis and found an unresponsive adult male about 20 minutes later.

Rescuers brought the man back to shore and began CPR before he was taken by Pacific West Ambulance to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
