Fast Focus: 'Is the Tri-Cities growing too fast?' Plan for the future

July 28, 2013

Growth is nothing to be afraid of if it is planned for in a responsible way. In fact, it is to be expected as each new generation matures and establishes a home.

The needs of the existing community must be paramount in all the decisions made. Local government has a responsibility to the citizens who already live here.

At the bottom of the list of considerations has to be the potential for additional tax dollars because in the long run a larger population will cost more than the increase in revenue. The kind of growth that should occur requires candid conversation throughout the region.
