Kennewick resident to host young women competition

National Distinguished Young Woman of the Year Nicole Renard of Kennewick will be the emcee of the upcoming Washington state Distinguished Young Women competition. Renard will co-host the competition with fellow national winners Linda Felber, Junior Miss 1964 and Lenne Jo Hallgren Best, Junior Miss 1976. The competition will feature 20 Washington high school seniors.

Each participant will perform a talent number, participate in a fitness and self-expression routine and meet with a panel of judges. The event will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday at Washington State University's Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum.

More than $10,000 in college scholarships will be awarded.
