Fukushima disaster topic of Tuesday talk in Richland

Tri-City HeraldJuly 27, 2013

The Fukushima nuclear disaster will be discussed Tuesday in Richland by a former council member of a village 19 miles from the reactors.

Chikako Nishiyama will speak at 7 p.m. in the Gathering Space at Christ the King Church, 1111 Stevens Drive, Richland.

An evacuation order for the village of Kawauchi was lifted last year, but 80 percent of the former residents have not returned because of fear of radioactive contamination, according to information about Nishiyama's presentation.
