Letter: Folks outside the three cities should get a vote on the aquatic center

July 26, 2013

With the upcoming vote on the regional aquatics center, I think the public should be made aware that only city residents are voting on this. County residents, outside the city limits, are not.

I have discussed this with the Franklin County auditor because this was not on my ballot and I wanted to know why.

One would think since this affects everybody who pays sales tax -- regardless of city or county residency -- everybody would get a vote on it.

I think everyone should be made aware of this because I don't think this was made clear before the ballots went out.
