Dust Devils lose but send 5 to all-star game

July 25, 2013

Starter Lars Huijer and reliever Tyler Wright combined on a 1-hitter Thursday night as the host Everett AquaSox defeated the Tri-City Dust Devils 6-0 in a Northwest League game.

Only Tri-City designated hitter Alec Mehrten got a hit, with a single.

The AquaSox jumped all over Tri-City starter Konner Wade, scoring four runs in the first inning. Christian Carmichael led Everett’s 11-hit attack with three of his own.

Meanwhile, the Dust Devils had five players named to the North Division team for the upcoming Northwest League All-Star Game, set for Aug. 6 in Everett.

Mehrten was named a starter for the North as an infielder.

Outfielder Sean Dwyer and pitchers Trent Daniel, Johendir Jiminian and Ryan Warner were also named to the team from Tri-City.
