Kennewick American 11s opens pool play 2-0

Cal Ripken Regionals: Chance Hailey and Cameron Langston each had 4-for-4 days as the Kennewick American 11s opened the regional tournament Thursday with a 25-5 victory over Vallivue (Idaho) and 18-2 over East Helena (Mont.) in Helena, Mont.

Kennewick finishes pool play with games against Bozeman and Ellensburg today. The top two teams from each five-team pool advance to bracket play Saturday.

Softball: The Washington Explosion lost 5-0 to Fury 95 Andrus in a rain-soaked third round game at the ASA 18U Gold National Championships in Clearwater, Fla.

The Explosion won its first two games in the double-elimination bracket Wednesday, defeating Florida Select 1-0 and OC Elite Greg 5-4.

The Explosion will play the winner of the Williamsburg Starz vs. Miami Stingrays at 5:30 a.m. PDT today in an elimination game.

The Washington Angels were eliminated, losing 1-0 to Team North Florida.
