Walla Walla library hires firm to help with director search

Tri-City HeraldJuly 25, 2013

The Rural Library District has taken its search for a new leader to a nationwide firm that specializes in hiring library directors.

District trustees approved a $24,000 contract this week with Bradbury Associates/Gossage Sager Associates, based in Kansas City, Mo.

The district had previously advertised the position in numerous association listing sites, but felt the number of applicants wasn't sufficient.

"The first round we didn't get as many responses as was necessary for due diligence. So we consulted a firm," Interim Director Aletha Bonebrake said.

The new director will be in charge of a district with a $1.1 million annual budget used to serve 17,000 rural residents of unincorporated Walla Walla County.

The salary range for the job is listed at $67,300-$74,200 and benefits.

Bonebrake said she expects the board will be able to review applicants and hire her a new director by the end of the year.
