Election letter: Aquatic center -- Yes

July 25, 2013

For many years, Mid-Columbia citizens have worked through their elected officials to voice interest in a communitywide facility. These officials, lately in the form of the Tri-Cities Regional Public Facilities District, have listened to the public through numerous community hearings and surveys.

Tri-Citians have a chance to confirm with their vote what they have consistently indicated in these meetings and surveys -- the community wants and needs an aquatic center and water park. This is a small (virtually insignificant) self-imposed tax to improve the quality of life in our community. It is not being foisted on us from Washington, D.C,. or Olympia. This is a chance for the Tri-Cities to do what has never been done before -- come together and agree on a project that will benefit the entire region, whether you personally chose to take advantage or not.

Many of us who don't live in one of the Tri-Cities (and can't vote on this) are excited to contribute with our local spending to this much needed project. This is the project and the method -- there is not and will not be another. Vote yes to improve the quality of life in the Tri-Cities.
