In response to D.L. (Andy) Anderson (Letters, June 7). His letter mentioned capital punishment for homosexuality. The Old Testament teachings about punishments for capital crimes were dealt with on the cross by Jesus. That is the last biblical death sentence until judgment day. That is the good news of the gospel of grace! All sin is ultimately worthy of and results in death. That is exactly why Jesus died on a cross.
Sometimes people read parts of the Bible and miss the resolution and reconciliation of those challenges by Jesus. If you want to know what Christianity is in a nutshell, read the Nicene creed (325 AD). If you like intellectual fodder, C.S. Lewis' Readings for Meditation and Reflection is a good short read.
On a totally separate note, I am hopeful the aquatic center is approved by voters.
I've approached the West Richland City Council before about a family-friendly public pool. (We've been making trips to Pendleton's aquatic center for years which is publicly funded and just celebrated 50 years!) The response has been to delay any action pending a regional aquatic center. It would be a well-used and much appreciated facility in our area.
