Letter: Conservatives aren't the only ones to believe

July 22, 2013

Certain readers may believe that secular laws cannot be violated. Thank God, there have been those through the years who acted on their beliefs and bucked the secular laws. I include Samuel Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Frederick Douglass, Corrie ten Boom, Anne Frank, Oscar Schindler, Rosa Parks, etc.

We can believe that the first, second, fourth, tenth, etc. amendments are not important. We can believe Obamacare is the answer to all our medical problems. We can believe mankind sprouted out of the primordial ooze. We can believe any number of myths and fantasies. But in the United States of America, we should not be forced to violate our beliefs if they don't physically harm anyone.

We have a great country because we have a Constitution of the United States of America!
