Election letter: Elect Barnes to Port of Kennewick

July 22, 2013

With the closure of Vista Field, the Port of Kennewick can have a huge impact on our region. We must get this right. There will never again be a single parcel of comparable size and location. For the first time, we can develop a vibrant urban center with commercial and entertainment attractions blended with high-density residential and park-like amenities. All near existing retail, commercial and entertainment. The Tri-Cities could move to the next level.

We should retain Commissioner Don Barnes to maximize our chance to do it right. He has the greatest development expertise on the ballot and superb analytical skills to evaluate competing proposals. His integrity and commitment to community service are unsurpassed. Additionally, he understands the port's role to balance job creation with improvements in quality of life.

Don Barnes will ensure our investment in the Port of Kennewick will pay dividends for generations. Retain Don Barnes! We need his vision and leadership!

DOUG BROWN, Kennewick
