Regional aquatics facility presentations scheduled Wednesday, July 31

July 21, 2013

A pair of presentations on the merits and drawbacks of the proposed regional aquatics facility and water park that’s up for a public vote will be given at Richland Kiwanis Club meetings this week and next.

Don Britain, a Kennewick city councilman and member of the Tri-Cities Regional Public Facilities District Board, which is making the proposal, will speak at the club’s meeting Wednesday. Vic Epperly, a former Kennewick councilman who’s a critic of the proposal, will speak at the July 31 meeting.

The regional public facilities district is proposing a one-tenth of 1 percent sales tax increase in Richland, Pasco and Kennewick to pay for the indoor and outdoor facility. Election day is Aug. 6.

Both Kiwanis meetings are at noon at the Richland Shilo Inn and Event Center, 50 Comstock St.

The public is welcome. For more information or to make a reservation, call 492-4111.
