Rick Engelmann (July 15): How dare you blame this economic situation on us "old people." How about the truth for once and place the blame where it belongs: Obama and his house of puppets. The liberals hand out entitlements as though it is candy, spend money like it grows on the White House trees and have buried this country in debt from which we will never recover. I dread what my grandkids are up against in their financial future.
As for Social Security, we old people have contributed to this all of our working lives knowing that it helps the previous generation -- so, now it is our turn to receive our fair share. Thanks to the government, generations of young people may not be able to receive this benefit when they, too, are OLD.
Medicare/Medicaid, we have to contribute to this, no exceptions -- nothing is free, at least not to most of us. Who do you think pays for these benefits? All of us, even the retired on limited incomes!
Keep in mind that Obama will never have to depend on Social Security or Medicare or his Obamacare -- and you know what? If I were a young person I, too, would opt out of Obamacare and pay the fine. Of course that would really throw a wrench into us "old people's" Obama benefits.
You need to stop blaming us "old people" for this dilemma and start paying more attention to those you vote into office. One day Rick will be "old" -- God help him.
