The Kennewick Bandits won their opener at the Washington State Senior American Legion baseball regionals, beating the Twin City Titans 5-4 on Saturday at Roy Johnson Field.

The Bandits scored three runs in the fifth on two Titans errors and base hits by Kaden Julian and Dillon Wilbert.

Kennewick pitcher Jarod Molnaa went the distance, throwing 141 pitches for the victory.

Kennewick plays at 2 p.m. today against Gig Harbor for a state tournament berth.

Twin City plays the Spokane 49ers at 11 a.m. in a loser-out contest.

There will be a play-in game at 5 p.m. for the second state tourney berth.

HANFORD FLAMES 7, SOBE TOYOTA 2: Colin Serkowski struck out six, tossed a five-hitter, had three hits and stole four bases as the Hanford Flames beat host Sobe Toyota of Chehalis in a Washington State Senior American Legion sub-regional game.

The Flames have won 23 of their last 24 games.

Isaac Benard and Brady Heid each added three hits, as the Flames had 15 total.

Hanford plays the Spokane Northstars — an 8-4 winner over Bellevue — at 2 p.m. today in a winners bracket game. Hanford needs to win just once today to qualify for the state tournament, which begins next Saturday in Spokane.

SENIOR BABE RUTH: Trenton Dohaniuk’s pinch-hit, RBI single in the seventh gave Three Rivers Red a 3-2 win over Competitive Athletics at the Southern Washington Senior Babe Ruth state tournament in Aberdeen.

Three Rivers lost Friday to host Aberdeen by a 4-3 score in eight innings.

Three Rivers plays today in a loser-out contest.

BABE RUTH 14: Richland 14U beat Kennewick 3-2 on Friday at the Southern Washington State Tournament, then lost to Twin Cities in the semifinals in Hoquiam.

Against Kennewick, Raymond Eitchen struck out eight batters over six innings.

Tied at 1-1 in the top of the seventh, Richland scored two runs as Garret Werner singled, then scored on Brady White’s stand-up triple. Jared Hartwig’s double then scored White.

In the bottom of the seventh, Werner came in to close as Kennewick threatened to score with the bases loaded with one out. Richland centerfielder Ryan Tucker caught a flyball, then threw out the runner from third, as catcher Brad Poletski applied the tag.

BABE RUTH 13: Kennewick Blue lost 17-2 to Kelso in single-elimination play at the Southern Washington State Babe Ruth tournament for 13-year-olds in Longview.

Kennewick Blue finished 1-3 in the tournament.

Hazel Dell Metro will play Longview today in the championship and for a berth to regionals.
