Letter: Approve aquatic center

July 19, 2013

The Tri-Cities has waited years for a year-round public aquatic facility that everyone in the area and surrounding areas can enjoy. It will bring in increased business according to the Visitor and Convention Bureau. The Regional Public Facilities District has done a great job of coordinating the project and finding the land for only one-tenth of one percent sales tax increase.

The Tri-Cities area is the fastest growing area in the state of Washington and the only cities in the top 25 without public year round swimming. Discussing a proposal not on the ballot, and at twice the cost, is a moot point.

This area has moved on to regional coordination in projects and that is the best way to get the most bang for the buck. So Tri-Cities, move on and make this area a great place to live by voting "yes" on the aquatic center proposal. We will not get another chance.
