Richland native Colton McCargar was one of six Whitworth University men’s basketball players to be named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court and the entire team earned an Academic Excellence award.

The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2012-13 season. Whitworth made the list with a cumulative GPA of 3.51.

McCargar, a junior business major, was honored along with Taylor Farnsworth, Wade Gebbers, Mack Larkin, Dustin McConnell and Matt Roth.

The Pirates went 26-4 in 2012-13 and won the Northwest Conference regular-season championship for the fourth consecutive year with a 14-2 record.
