Students had to earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or better to land a spot on the list.
-- Christopher Squier has been named to the Grinnell College dean's list for the spring semester. Students must have a grade-point average of 3.75 or above.
Squier is the son of Dr. Thomas C. Squier and Dr. Diana J. Bigelow of Richland.
-- Jameson Pedersen, of Kennewick, was named to the spring dean's list at Carroll College in Helena, Mt. The son of Sarah and Merle Pedersen of Kennewick, he is a graduate of Tri-Cities Prep High School in Pasco.
-- Saint Martin's University has issued its spring semester dean's list for outstanding academic achievement. To earn academic honors at Saint Martin's undergraduate students must receive a 3.5 grade-point average or higher (based on a 4.0 scale) carry at least a 12-semester-hour course load and complete all coursework undertaken for the semester.

-- Shanta Katipamula of Hanford High School in Richland recently received a gold medal from the SUNY Oswego Genius Olympiad competition.
She won the award for her project "Working Toward a Greener Future: Investigating the Most Efficient and Cost Effective Method to Obtain Hydrogen from Water."
Katipamula competed against 329 other students from 44 countries around the world.
-- Two Mid-Columbia students graduated recently from Seattle Pacific University.
Ashley D. Engelman, West Richland, magna cum laude with a bachelor of science in biochemistry.
Ryan C. Grandy, Richland, cum laude with a bachelor of science in mathematics.
-- Laura Jendro, of Richland, graduated May 11 from Eastern Kentucky University with a master of science degree in safety, security and emergency management.
