Letter: How about a little (financial) help for our volunteers

July 18, 2013

We are so very appreciative of the service to our community of our reserve police officers. They serve as volunteers without remuneration. They work alongside and in support of the Richland Police Department in keeping our city safe. We could use several more.

In the city we came from in Texas, city water and garbage collection fees were waived for the reserve firemen and policemen as a small token of appreciation by the city. Perhaps this or some other way of saying thanks would be helpful and even encourage others to volunteer for this valuable asset in our community. It is worth consideration.
