— A deck fire at a historic house in Walla Walla caused an estimated $20,000 worth of damage, a fire official said Wednesday.

A resident called the Walla Walla Fire Department Tuesday around 1:45 p.m. after seeing the fire at 532 Washington Street, said Deputy Chief Brad Morris.

Fire crews were able to control the fire in under 10 minutes, Morris said. Three people were home when the fire started and they were able to get out safely, along with four dogs.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
