BPA plans Kennewick meeting Wednesday on tree removal

July 17, 2013

— The Bonneville Power Administration will hold an open house in Kennewick Wednesday as it prepares to start work to remove trees it believes could encroach on its transmission lines.

The meeting will be held 4 to 7 p.m. at Canyon View Elementary School, 1299 W. 22nd Place, Kennewick.

It will address work on BPA’s Franklin-Badger Canyon No. 2 power line.

BPA plans to remove trees that could reach their maximum height within 25 feet of the transmission line.

It then would spray herbicide on the stumps to prevent regrowth.

The project also will evaluate structures such as sheds and swing sets in the right-of-way to make sure they do no create a safety hazard.
