Washington Force Black softball splits

Stephanie Merwin went 2-for-4 with a double, triple and an RBI to lead Washington Force Black to an 8-4 victory over Northwest Rage (Vancouver) in the 16U A state softball championships at Gateway Complex in Yakima on Saturday.

Lauren Likes added two RBIs, while Kadi Patterson pitched a complete game and added a double and an RBI.

In their first game of the day, Washington Force Black dropped a 10-6 game to the Vancouver Force.

The 23-team tournament continues today. Washington Force Black (2-1) plays the Northwest Acers (Seattle) at 8 a.m.
