Letter: Rescuing stranger pays it forward

July 11, 2013

An amazing thing happened to me this morning. I was checking out my groceries at WinCo when I discovered I hadn't brought a check with me. After counting my cash, I was still more than $25 short. I had the clerk remove enough items so my cash would cover the rest.

As I loaded my cart, there were the items I had removed. They were paid for by the lady in the checkout line I had held up while finding my cash.

I tried to get her address to mail her the money buy she refused. Finally I thanked her and wished her a "wonderful rescuing stranger." She said she'd already had one.
