— A Kennewick man was found hiding in a shed after running from officers who tired to arrest him, police said.

Kennewick police officers surrounded the shed near East Fifth Avenue Tuesday night and arrested Justin T. Clifton, Sgt. Ken Lattin said. Clifton, 27, had a felony warrant for his arrest.

When Clifton first saw officers, he ran through resident’s yards and jumped a fence, Lattin said.

Officers reportedly saw Clifton reaching for something in his waistband while he was running, Lattin said. A .45 caliber handgun was found by the fence Clifton jumped.

Clifton was booked into the Benton County jail on a 72 hour investigative hold while prosecutors decide whether to file criminal charges.
