Letter: Send employers who hire illegal immigrants to jail

July 10, 2013

Jochen Engelke (In Focus, June 23) has 10 suggestions for immigration reform, primarily aimed at the immigrant population. While his No. 8 mentions mandated use of fraud-proof employment verification, I think a much more effective means of keeping people from illegally coming to this country would be to ensure that employers would be aggressively prosecuted for hiring undocumented workers. Send them to jails and detention centers when they hire illegally.
