Department of Transportation requirements topic of July 11 meeting

Tri-City HeraldJuly 8, 2013

Department of Transportation requirements that apply to all businesses will be discussed at a meeting of the Eastern Washington Chapter of the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers.

The meeting is at 6 p.m. July 11 at the Richland Library.

Wade Winters, president of Regulatory Resources, will discuss the scope of federal hazardous materials regulations, which apply to materials as common as an aerosol can. Small businesses such as welders, farmers, lawn care providers, pool care service providers, maintenance workers, builders and tow trucks could be affected. He will discuss how to meet the Materials of Trade exception to avoid unwanted potential federal and state enforcement.
