The Eli Young Band will rock the desert July 17 in an outdoor concert at Wildhorse Resort & Casino in Pendleton.

Showtime is 7 p.m. Tickets cost $20 for lawn seating and $55 for reserved seats and are available at www.wildhorseresort.com or by calling 800-494-8497. The concert is open to all ages.

The Eli Young Band earned nominations for song of the year, vocal group of the year and single record of the year at the 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards.

Lead singer and guitarist Mike Eli and guitarist James Young lead the group, which also includes Jon Jones on bass and Chris Thompson on drums.

They all met while attending the University of North Texas, and it didn’t take long for a musical connection to transpire. They played college parties and local bars and in 2005 started touring the country, opening for such country artists as Miranda Lambert. By 2007, the guys had a record deal and produced two albums.

Their third album, Jet Black and Jealous, produced a hit single, When it Rains, in 2008 that spent 37 weeks on the country charts. A second hit, Always the Love Songs, was their first Top 10 hit single.

Then in 2011, the band released Life at Best, which produced the hit single Crazy Girl and became the band’s first platinum-selling album.

The outdoor concert will have food and beverages available. For those with lawn seats, blankets are recommended and lawn chairs must be low profile.
