4 boys basketball teams unbeaten at Kamiakin Classic

Four Mid-Columbia boys basketball teams went 2-0 on the first day of the Kamiakin Classic tournament on Friday.

Host Kamiakin beat Sunnyside 48-37, then topped University 56-44 to advance to the winners’ bracket semifinals.

The Braves will play at noon Saturday against Grandview, which beat Central Valley II 55-50, then edged Chiawana 66-64.

In the other winners bracket semifinal at noon Saturday, Kennewick will play Richland.

Kennewick trounced Hermiston 74-40, then held off Central Valley 57-54.

Richland routed Prosser 79-52 before running roughshod over Curtis 88-49.

The championship is scheduled for 5:20 p.m. Saturday in the Kamiakin High School gym.
