Big third inning leads Dust Devils over Hawks

July 5, 2013

A season-high output at the plate paced the Tri-City Dust Devils to a 9-3 win over the Boise Hawks on Friday night.

The bulk of the scoring for the Dust Devils came in the third inning, as Wilfredo Rodriguez hit a three-run homer that accounted for half of the team’s six runs. Sean Dwyer added two RBIs, and Matt Pierpont earned the win for Tri-City after throwing three scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

The win was the second in as many night for the Dust Devils (8-14), who are last in the North Division. The Hawks (11-11) are second in the South Division.

The third game of the five-game series will take place at 6:15 p.m. tonight. Tri-City will send Johendi Jiminian to the mound. James Puliese will toe the rubber for the Hawks. The Dust Devils will return home Wednesday to begin a five-game series with the Hillsboro Hops.
