3-year-old Pasco girl dies two days after nearly drowning

— A 3-year-old Pasco girl who was found unconscious after nearly drowning in a backyard swimming pool has died.

Deziree Envy Mia Hernandez died from a lack of oxygen and swelling of the brain, according to the Spokane Medical Examiner’s Office. Her death was ruled an accident.

Hernandez died July 4 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. She was taken to the hospital following the incident July 2 at a home near Franklin Road and North Road 84 in Pasco.

Hernandez was born in Medford, Ore., and had lived in the Tri-Cities for over two years. Her parents are Miguel Angel Hernandez and Cora Mae Bourbon.

Hillcrest Bruce Lee Memorial Center in Pasco is handling arrangements.
