Mehrten gives Dust Devils first home run in win at Boise

July 4, 2013

Alec Mehrten hit a two-run shot over the left-field wall in the fifth inning, giving the Tri-City Dust Devils enough offensive punch to grab a 7-5 road win over the Boise Hawks on Thursday in the opener of a five-game series at Memorial Stadium.

Mehrten’s blast, the first home run for the Dust Devils this summer in 21 games, helped Tri-City snap a five-game losing streak and win for just the second time in 10 games.

Marcos Derkes doubled and drove in two runs hitting in the nine hole for Tri-City.

Jerad McCrummen got the win with 1 2⁄3 innings of scoreless relief, and Trent Daniel picked up his second save.
