Wind, low humidity and warm temperatures this afternoon and evening could cause any fires to rapidly spread in the Columbia Basin, according to a warning from the National Weather Service.
Until about 10 p.m., west winds between 15 and 25 miles per hour are expected in the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas, according to the warning. Gusts could be as high as 40 miles per hour.
Humidity is likely to be as low as 15 percent, according to the National Weather Service.
High temperatures for the Fourth of July are expected to be in the low 90s in the Tri-Cities, according to the National Weather Service.
