9-year-old girl raises $398 for Tri-Cities Cancer Center

July 4, 2013

A Tri-City girl raised nearly $398 for the Tri-Cities Cancer Center in Kennewick by foregoing presents at her birthday party.

Chloe Kennedy asked her guests to bring donations instead, a cancer center news release said.

“I wanted to do this because I already have a bunch of things, and I wanted to help people who have cancer,” the 9-year-old wrote in a letter to the cancer center foundation.

Elizabeth McLaughlin, foundation director said in the release that, “We are so thankful to Chloe for her most generous gift to our foundation. Her support will make a difference in the lives of local cancer patients and their families. Chloe’s gift truly demonstrates the important role young people have in philanthropy.”
