Flames sweep Titans in CWL Senior Legion twinbill

Colin Serkowski pitched a two-hitter and struck out five as the Hanford Flames opened a doubleheader against the Twin City Titans with a 12-1 five-inning win in Central Washington League play Tuesday in Richland.

“It was hot,” Flames coach Nat Roe said. “I was proud of the way they played in the heat. Colin’s fastball looked alive.”

Trevor Jones, Ryan Neal and Jake Browne all drove in two runs for the Flames (8-10), who have won their last five league games.

In the second game, Isaac Benard hit a two-run homer as the Flames completed the sweep with a 12-6 win.

“We are playing good ball,” Roe said.

Nate Ruane hit a solor home run for the Titans.

Phantoms 9-16, Mustangs 6-6: Andrew Townsend went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and six RBIs in the first game of a Junior Legion doubleheader Monday at Roy Johnson Field in Kennewick.

Malik Sitler drove in two runs in both games for the Phantoms, which scored 11 runs in the second inning in a Game 2 win.

Jr. Flames 5, Wild 4: Jon Miles singled to right in the top of the ninth inning to drive in Mitch Godwin, giving Hanford the go-ahead run in a nonleague Junior Legion victory at Mt. Spokane.

Godwin went 4-for-5 on the day, and Cody McKee added two hits and an RBI. Bryce Logan tossed six innings before Godwin shut down the Wild over the final three innings to earn the win for the Junior Flames (22-9).

Daman Willard drove in a run in Game 1 and two more in Game 2 for the Mayhem (10-4).

Mike Perez drove in three runs for the Wolfpack in the opener, while Cody Zyph led Benton City with two RBIs.

Derek Seeley drove in three runs, while Tyler Maus, Cy Edie and Austin Gagnon each had two RBIs for the Wolfpack in Game 2.
