Kennewick and Pasco police have arrested four people in connection to the theft of 785 gallons of gas using a stolen gas card.

Mark Bates, 60, and Daniel Bates, 58, both of Finley; Kennewick resident Joshua Chavez, 25, and 21-year-old Sarah Reed, a transient, were arrested on various charges when authorities searched a home in Finley, according to a release. The thefts happened in late May at several stations in Kennewick, Pasco and Franklin County.

The gas card was reported stolen on May 28 by Paramount Supply in Kennewick. The company also told police the card had been used several times since it was taken to buy gas at CFN fueling stations. Video footage was uncovered from the stations of people using the stolen card to purchase gas and load it into large containers.

An investigation revealed a suspect and authorities received a search warrant for 223402 E 233 PR SE in Finley.

Mark Bates was arrested under suspicion of identity theft and Daniel Bates was arrested under suspicion of obstructing a public servant. Chavez was arrested under suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and Reed arrested for failure to appear and comply with warrants.

Police are still looking for other suspects in the case and encourage anyone with information to call 586-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
