Letter: Applauds Arlene's Flowers owner for following her conscience

July 1, 2013

Having read David Chassin's letter, "Kosher analogy wrong," in the June 25 edition, I felt I had to respond.

From everything I have read, Arlene's Flowers had sold flowers to the couple for a few years for various occasions.

This tells me she is not discriminating against them, otherwise she would have refused to sell them the flowers in the first place.

Her refusal to provide her services for their wedding is why the state is bringing suit.

She followed her conscience and was true to her Christian belief that a man and woman are meant to join in a fruitful union.

I applaud her for following her conscience and staying true to her belief. Just because something is legal does not necessarily make it right.
