Dust Devils fall late to Canadians

June 30, 2013

Dickie Thon’s two-run double highlighted a five-run seventh inning for Vancouver as the Canadians rallied for a 7-3 win over the visiting Tri-City Dust Devils in Northwest League baseball Sunday afternoon.

The son of the former major leaguer helped engineer the downfall of Tri-City reliever Huascar Brazoban, who took the loss after giving up five runs in his one inning of work. It spoiled a strong outing by Dust Devils starter Jayson Aquino, who left with a 3-2 lead in the fifth with six strikeouts and just one walk.

Tri-City pieced together a three-run third inning to take the early advantage with RBI singles from Michael Tauchman and Sean Dwyer sandwiched around Ashley Graeter’s sacrifice fly.

The Dust Devils return home today to start a three-game set with the Spokane Indians. First pitch is at 7:15 p.m.
