Twin City sweeps Moses Lake in senior legion twinbill

Logan Jackson drove in Sheldon Liikala with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, giving Twin City a 4-3 win in Game 1 of a senior legion win Saturday over Moses Lake in Richland.

David Marshall tossed six innings, striking out six to get the win for the Titans.

Game 2 wasn’t nearly as close, as Twin City scored two runs in each of the first three innings, plus three more in the fourth, to take a 9-0 lead. Trystan Drury led the offense with four RBIs, while Stuart Moore and Connor Craig added two RBIs apiece in the 9-2 win.

“We just hit the ball well and scored runs,” Titans manager Pete Marquez said.

Junior Bandits into semifinals: The Kenenwick Junior Bandits are 2-2 at the Eastlake Wood Bat Invitational in Sammamish, putting them in today’s semifinals against host Eastlake at 10 a.m.

The Junior Bandits dropped a 7-2 game to Woodinville Baseball on Saturday morning before beating Ellensburg Nine Pine 6-5. Against Ellensburgh, Kennewick scored one run in the bottom of the seventh for the win.

Kyle Harvey led off the bottom of the seventh with a single. After a sacrifice fly sent harvey to second base, Ellensbugh walked Brent Schafer and Tate Spivey to load the bases, then walked Matthew Oldham to send Harvey across the plate for the winning run.

The Junior Bandits lost a 6-5 game to Eastlake on Friday.

“We pitched well enough to win, we just couldn’t get it done,” Kennewick coach Tim Sanders said.

Senior Babe Ruth: Lui Carrasco struck out seven batters for the Burbank Diamondbacks in his first start of the year, getting the win in an 11-2 Game 1 doubleheader victory over the Tri-City Badgers in Richland.

Jeff Hawk turned the tables on the D-backs (16-4) in Game 2, however, striking out 10 batters to earn the ‘W’ in the nightcap. Andrew Goueloui had two hits in each game for the Badgers.

Wolfpack 5, Sun Devils 1: Chad Bettinson struck out 18 batters over nine innings, walking just one in Kennewick’s nonleague Senior Babe Ruth win over host Pasco.

Bettinson also helped himself at the plate for the Wolfpack (10-13), going 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Zach Garcia went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run to lead the Sun Devils.
