Kennewick woman wins national pageant title

Nicole Renard of Kennewick was named the 2013 Distinguished Young Woman of America in Mobile, Ala., on Saturday.

The program formerly was known as America's Junior Miss program.

She earned $34,000 in scholarships, said Sue Hinz, spokeswoman for the Washington program. She plans to attend Chapman University in Anaheim, Calif., to study TV broadcast journalism.

Renard, 18, a graduate of Kamiakin High School, is the daughter of Pamela Walker-Renard and Victor Renard.
