NWL: Dust Devils snap three-game slide

June 28, 2013

Michael Benjamin went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Michael Tauchman hit a two-run, one-out triple in the top of the seventh to break a 1-1 tie and lift the Tri-City Dust Devils to a 4-1 Northwest League victory over the Vancouver Canadians at Nat Bailey Stadium.

Tauchman also drove in Tri-City’s first run in the second inning with an RBI groundout, bringing home Benjamin after a leadoff triple.

The Dust Devils (6-9) also got a strong pitching effort from Konner Wade, a seventh-round draft pick by the Colorado Rockies in the recent MLB draft. Wade lowered his ERA to 2.00 in his second professional start, allowing just one run on four hits over five innings.

Bruce Kern (1-0) tossed a perfect inning of relief, picking up the win, and Jonathan Vargas followed with three scoreless innings to collect his first save of the season.

Colton Turner (0-2) took the loss for the Canadians.
