Softball: 135 teams coming to NSA tourney in Tri-Cities

A total of 135 girls softball teams begin play today in the National Softball Association state tournament at various sites around the Tri-Cities.

Nearly 4,500 players, coaches, and spectators from all over Washington will be visiting the Tri-Cities this weekend and will contribute an estimated $1,336,500 in visitor spending in the local economy.

Divisions will vary from ages 10 to 18 years old, playing at the Kennewick Civic Center fields, Columbia Playfields in Richland, Horn Rapids in Richland, Pasco’s TRAC fields, Kennewick’s Lawrence Scott Park and Southrdge’s Athletic Complex.

Play begins at noon today at all parks except Horn Rapids.

The first championships are set at 2 p.m. Sunday.
