Genealogists to convene state conference in Yakima

June 27, 2013

— The Yakima Valley Genealogical Society is hosting this year’s state genealogical conference this weekend.

The Washington State Genealogical Society holds an annual conference for genealogical researchers to gather and share techniques for researching family histories. Registration is available online at yvgs.net and costs $70.

This year, the keynote speaker will be Bret Petersen, a well-known genealogist from Salt Lake City, who lectures on genealogy around the country.

The conference, themed “Researching Rare Apples on Your Family Tree,” will be Friday and Saturday at the Howard Johnson Plaza in downtown Yakima. Pat Bundy of the Yakima Valley Genealogical Society said the group is expecting about 100 people to attend from across Washington state and Idaho.
