Pasco introduces 'Hapo' the police dog

Tri-City HeraldJune 25, 2013

Businesses have purchased the naming rights of stadiums and transit stations, but a new police dog in Pasco is taking corporate names to a new level.

The Pasco Police Department introduced its new K-9 police dog "Hapo" at a news conference Wednesday. In a news release, the city said it was able to buy the dog because of a $12,000 donation from the Richland-based HAPO Community Credit Union.

The city named the dog in gratitude to HAPO, rather than having the credit union pay for the name, city spokesman Jon Funfar said.

HAPO has 14 locations, with two of those in Pasco. Another credit union, Gesa, owns naming rights on the Tri-City Dust Devils stadium in Pasco.
