Letter: Herald article about missing Vietnam flight crew outstanding

June 25, 2013

I recently was critical of the Tri-City Herald for missing any mention of Armed Forces Day. After reading with great interest the Vietnam story by Geoff Folsom, Herald staff writer, published over Memorial Day weekend, about MIA Chief Master Sgt. Arden Keith Hassenger and the crew of Spooky 21, I have to say the Herald hit five for five on this article.

As a veteran of this war and making many trips across the pond bringing home our casualties, I am truly proud of the efforts being made to return our lost veterans. This story was not only heartbreaking, but also was uplifting, knowing closure for Robin Hassenger Hobson and family, and yes some closure to the Vietnam survivors. This story was so well written I do hope Geoff Folsom's article will receive the recognition it so rightly deserves. Well done.
