Dust Devils blanked in Eugene

June 23, 2013

The Tri-City Dust Devils lost their third game in four days, falling 6-0 to the Eugene Emeralds on Sunday at PK Park to drop into a third-place tie with Spokane in the Northwest League’s North Division.

The Dust Devils (4-6) managed just three hits off four Emeralds’ pitchers, but Tri-City starter Konner Wade pitched four strong innings in his professional debut. Wade (0-1), a seventh-round draft pick out of Arizona, took the loss despite allowing just one run on two hits over four innings.

His replacement, Jonathan Vargas, gave up five runs on seven hits over four innings as Eugene (5-5) exploded for five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
