Franklin elections department gets state award

June 22, 2013

— Franklin County Auditor Matt Beaton and the county’s elections department recently received the Washington Secretary of State’s Voter Outreach Award.

The award is given each year to recognize efforts to increase voter participation and educating through voter outreach.

Beaton and his staff were lauded for the use of the “Vote it, Sign it, Send it” awareness campaign during the 2012 election. Franklin County was ranked No. 1 in the state for increase in registered voters between 2008 and 2012 by Pew Charitable Trusts. In that time, registration increased by 24 percent.
