Pasco man cited after chain-reaction crash

By the Tri-City HeraldJune 22, 2013

Two Pasco men were involved in a five-car crash on Interstate 90 west of Cle Elum on Friday afternoon.

Ralph Rodriguez, 30, of Pasco, was driving west on the interstate in a 1994 Dodge Stealth with passengers Xavier Munoz, 23, of Pasco, and Kayla Whittmier, 20, of Spokane Valley, according to a Washington State Patrol release.

Traffic in front of Rodriguez slowed because of highway construction. Rodriguez was following too close and veered to his right, striking two vehicles, WSP said. That set off a chain reaction, causing two other cars to be hit, WSP said.

Whittmier was injured in the crash and taken to Overlake Hospital in Bellevue. There were no other injuries, WSP said.

Rodriguez's car and one other had to be towed. Rodriquez was cited for following too close, WSP said.
