Twin City Titans take two at Best of the West baseball tournament

Gibson McGeorge went 2-for-5 with a double and drove in five runs to help lift the Twin City Titans to a 12-4 win over the Washington Fellowship of Christian Athletes on Friday at the Best of the West Tournament in Spokane.

The Titans also topped the Washington Grinders 7-3 earlier in the day, as Nate Ruane struck out seven batters without a walk through six innings. Hunter Chambers drove in two runs for Twin City in the opener.

The Titans will play the Spokane Dodgers at 1 p.m. today before following that up with another game at 3 p.m.

Bandits 6-10, Sun Devils 3-6: Steven Sordahl had a double and drove in three runs in a soggy nightcap as the Kennewick Bandits completed a sweep Thursday of the host Pasco Sun Devils.

In the opener, Dillon Wilbert drove in a pair of runs and Clayten Ayers pitched a complete game with three strikeouts.

Junior Bash: Jon Miles went 3-for-3 with three RBIs to lift the Hanford Junior Flames to a 5-4 win over the Pasco Sun Devils at the Junior Bash tournament at Waits Field in Richland.

Mychal Gritz went 2-for-3 with an RBI and picked up the save with a scoreless seventh inning to lead Hermiston over the Flames in the next game.

In the day’s finale, Sam Lawrence of Bellevue tossed a six-inning shutout, holding the Sun Devils to just one hit — a single by Ethan Olson — in an 11-0 victory.

At Roy Johnson, the Kennewick Phantoms swept a pair, topping the Kennewick Dusters 13-3 and Prosser Mustangs 7-4. Josh Kutzke went 3-for-4 wiht a double, triple and three RBIs for the Phantoms in their opener, while Gerald Hein threw four innings of two-hit ball with seven strikeouts and also clubbed a two-run double against Prosser.
