DUI patrols set to begin Friday around Tri-Cities

By The Tri-City HeraldJune 19, 2013

Law enforcement agencies across the Tri-Cities will have extra patrols out looking for drunken drivers.

The DUI patrols will start Friday and continue through July 7. Every law enforcement agency in the Tri-Cities will participate in the extra patrols.

The patrols are statewide and are enforced locally in connection with the Benton-Franklin Traffic Safety Task Force.

Last summer, four people died in traffic incidents in Benton and Franklin counties, two of which involved drunken drivers, the task force said.

The extra patrols in 2012 resulted in 74 arrests for DUI and 141 traffic tickets, the task force said.
