Letter: Game officials are too quick on the trigger

In regard to the article about the black bear killed in Benton City. The article states that a 1-year-old black bear was a risk to public safety.

I think the only risk to public safety is Kerry McLerran, the officer who made the call to euthanize the bear. There are more options to these situations than just killing animals. It appeared there was no imminent danger to anyone.

We need to think these situations through and not jump to kill mode. This is a major reason for some animals to become extinct. Let's keep the kill mode as a last option.
